Seed Sowing Guide

  Make some small holes on the seedling soil and put in 1 to 2 seeds for each hole and then cover with a thin layer of soil. Water twice a day until after germination.

  When the seedlings grow 3 to 4 true leaves, you may thin out excess seedlings (remove weak seedlings) or transplant, keeping the strongest seedling for each hole. Leave a 30cm gap for each plant and use a hanging rope to support the growth of the vine.

  Top-dress with Baba 532 organic foliage fertiliser weekly. When the plants grow bigger, use Baba 426 organic fruiting fertiliser. Put the fertiliser away from the plant with a 10 to 15cm gap and cover with soil. Water after fertilisation.

  Only keep the main vine and a side vine with an axillary bud, remove other axillary buds. Only keep one fruit per vine.

  Ready to be harvested when the rind appears quite clear and the fruit has a sweet aroma.

Growing Tips:

After blooming, you can manually pollinate in the morning.

Melons attract pests, so you may need to spray enzymes every three to five days and wrap the fruit with paper.

Thin leaves to ensure ventilation of plants and to avoid mealybug attacks.
